Alien Systems & Technologies offers a unique high-pressure carbon-dioxide fire extinguishing system to minimise the potential for loss of life and property in today's highly specialised environments. When designed, installed, and maintained per SANS 306-4, AST's carbon dioxide systems can be used safely and effectively in a variety of special hazard applications.
Caution: Flooding concentrations of carbon dioxide used to suppress fires will not support human life. Therefore, it is imperative that audible and visual warnings be posted to alert personnel to vacate the protected hazard area before agent discharge.
FAST
Carbon dioxide gas has a high ratio of expansion which facilitates rapid discharge and allows for three dimensional penetration of the entire hazard area quickly.
EFFECTIVE
Carbon dioxide extinguishes a fire by reducing the oxygen content of the protected area below the point where it can support combustion. Due to the extreme density of the carbon dioxide, it quickly and effectively permeates the protected hazard area and extinguishes the fire. Rapid expansion of the "snow" to gas reduces the ambient temperature in the protected hazard area which aids in the extinguishing process and retards reignition
NON-DAMAGING
When designed, engineered, and installed properly, carbon dioxide will not normally damage sensitive electronic equipment. Carbon dioxide has no residual clean-up associated with its use as a fire extinguishingagent. When it is properly ventilated, the gas escapes to atmosphere after the fire has been extinguished.
ELECTRICALLY NON-CONDUCTIVE
Carbon dioxide can be used to protect a wide variety of hazards, from ink baths, high voltage electrical equipment to archive rooms.
